How to reduce food waste and save money
How to reduce food waste and save money : Nowadays, as I look around, I noticed that food waste has become a habit. Firstly, people buy a lot more stuff than what is needed and secondly, they eat a lot more than required which ultimately leads to food waste. You might not be aware of the fact that by these habits, we are putting extra strain on our nation’s economy and natural resources like forests/farms. Also, we are putting extra pressure on our hard working farmers. When you waste food, you also waste our precious resources (like water, seeds, feed, etc.) that go into producing it. It ultimately leads to the weakening of our nation’s economy. So today, being a responsible citizen, I am taking responsibility and have come up with great ideas on how we can reduce food waste and ultimately save a lot of money.

Store Food Wisely
Always remember to keep older products in the front row of your shelf and the latest ones and the back so that the older products get used first and not get spoiled. I am suggesting this method by personal experience – My kitchen used to be very disorganised. Many times it happened that I kept some old packets and bottles somewhere inside the store and then forgot about them. By the time I used to find them, they were already expired and ultimately food and money, both got wasted. That is why I always suggest to organising the kitchen properly.
USE YOUR LEFTOVERS
Another super technique to save both food and money is to use your leftover food to make new dishes out of them. If you don’t eat everything you make, remember to freeze it for later use.

I’ll tell you what I cook out of the left over food which you can also cook:
USE OVER RIPENED FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Whenever a fruit gets over ripened, do not throw them. Rather you can make a fruit smoothie/milkshake/thick shake. If there are multiple over ripened fruits, then better to make a fruit cream/custard.

Similarly, if there are over ripened vegetables like tomato/bottle gourd/bitter gourd/beetroot/pumpkin etc. then you can make soup out of them rather than throwing it away.
BUY ONLY WHAT YOU NEED
Many people believe in buying a lot of stuff together and freezing it which leads to rotting of food and wastage of money. You can save a lot of money just by buying your grocery in limit.
Talking about me, I buy my vegetables and fruits on a daily basis. By doing this, neither the vegetables get rotten nor I have to throw them. Infact, I get fresh vegetables daily. You wont believe it but since the time I have adopted this method, I have started saving a good amount every month.
We usually buy vegetables and fruits from a retail shopkeeper due to which we get it more expensive because the shopkeeper earns his own profit. So I would personally suggest you buy vegetables from the wholesale market. I can assure you that you can save a good amount everytime you go for a purchase.
